Jaime Andrés Vinasco

Jaime Andrés Vinasco

Jaime Andrés Vinasco Barco holds a Doctorate in Social Sciences with a specialty in Regional Studies from El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (COLEF), in Mexico. A Colombian researcher whose academic trajectory articulates health, drugs, cultures and care — a triad that runs through his entire scientific output. He holds a degree in Nursing from the University of Antioquia (Medellín), a Master's degree in Cultures and Drugs from the University of Caldas (Manizales) and a Master II in Social and Human Sciences from the Université de Paris Est Créteil Val de Marne, in France. Professor of the Master's program in Cultures and Drugs at the University of Caldas, he also teaches in the Nursing faculty at the University of Antioquia and in the Psychology faculty at the Universidad Católica Luis Amigó, in Medellín, where he offers courses on end of life and on drugs and mental health.

He is co-founder and director of Fundación Consciencia VIBA, a Colombian institution dedicated to promoting good living and good dying with support from psychedelics. Among his most notable academic milestones are the publication of the article *Psicodélicos y muerte digna* in the journal *Avances en Enfermería* (2020) — one of the first academic works in Spanish to systematically articulate the use of psychedelics in palliative and end-of-life care — and the coinage, together with Brazilian researcher Ana Cláudia Mesquita Garcia, of the neologism Paliadélico (*Palliadelic*), which names and conceptualizes the use of psychedelics in contexts of terminal illness and palliative care. His scientific output articulates the symbolic, political and therapeutic dimensions of psychoactive substances, engaging with contemporary debates on regulation, identity, social representation and integral patient care.

His work has been recognized in multiple institutional and geopolitical contexts, with invitations as a special guest at the United States Consulate in Tijuana, at Mercosur anthropology meetings in Uruguay, at Entheogen Conferences in Peru, at Mental Health and Palliative Care Conferences in Colombia and at the Anti-Narcotics and Special Operations Unit of the Fiscalía General de la Nación of Colombia.

Attila Oláh is a physician trained at the University of Debrecen, in Hungary, with a doctorate in Molecular Medicine from the same institution. He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Physiology at Debrecen Medical School, where he leads the Cannabinoid Research Group.

First author of the study demonstrating the sebostatic and anti-inflammatory effects of cannabidiol in human sebocytes, published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation in 2014, Dr. Oláh is one of the leading international authorities in the study of the endocannabinoid system of the skin — a field he helped name the "C(ut)annabinoid" system. He was a visiting researcher at the Dermatology Clinic of the University of Münster, in Germany.

His current research investigates the role of the endocannabinoid system and TRP ion channels in the pathophysiology of human skin and its appendages — sebaceous glands and acne, atopic dermatitis, hair growth and keratinocyte differentiation — with emphasis on the biological effects of non-psychotropic phytocannabinoids such as CBD, CBG and CBDV.

He is a member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS), the International Association for Cannabinoid Medicines (IACM) and the European Society for Dermatological Research, among other scientific societies.
